The newest float in the summer sequel parade belongs to Lara Croft, the swashbuckling archaeologist and British aristocrat who rose to digital stardom as the protagonist of a pioneering video game. Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life emerges as just one more formulaic action film as the title character bounces around the globe in a deadly treasure hunt. The object of her search is nothing less than the original Pandora's Box, which is revealed to be some sort of intergalactic surprise package that was once the source of all life on earth but now contains the very essence of death and evil.

TOMB RAIDER STAR FINDS TREASURE IN GERMANY

In the film Tomb Raider Angelina Jolie plays a daredevil archaeologist who travels the world in search of precious relics. And it seemed like a case of life imitating art in Munich on Wednesday, as the actress finally got her hands on a special memento that has been eluding her for months. Because when Angelina arrived in Germany to present her new Lara Croft film The Cradle Of Life, she was presented with the World Video Award 2003, which she was supposed to collect in January.

KORN ALBUM ATTACKED BY MUSIC FANS

Fans attacked Korn's last album, 2002's Untouchables, for being too slickly produced, and it wound up being the band's lowest-selling album to date. Korn seems to have taken those opinions into consideration when writing its sixth album, due this fall. Did My Time is featured in the movie Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life -- but it doesn't appear on the soundtrack. The song opens with a raw guitar riff before switching to the heavy, bass-driven sound that has spawned many an imitator since Korn's debut nine years ago.

LARA CROFT COUNTRY GEARS FOR TOURISTS

North Wales is preparing to welcome a deluge of movie-minded tourists all keen to follow in the footsteps of screen adventurer Lara Croft. The release on August 22 of Tomb Raider 2 is expected to trigger massive interest in Snowdonia, the location of a Chinese village in the film. Nearly a year after Angelina Jolie arrived on the shores of the lake Llyn Gwynant with 150 cast and crew members the area is about to receive international exposure and tourism agencies are at work behind the scenes to ensure that Wales receives recognition as the real star of the sequel.
