BUFFY WINS TOP ACTION HEROINE AWARD

Buffy the Vampire Slayer has outclassed Lara Croft, Xena Warrior Princess and Charlie’s Angels to win Sky Magazine's top world action heroine accolade for 2002. Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar fought off stiff competition from Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie and Bill Murray’s Charlie's Angels.

Tomb Raider star Iain Glen was Nicole Kidman's shoulder to cry on when she split with husband Tom Cruise. Now Nicole can return the favour because Iain has broken up with his wife of eight years, actress Susannah Harker, The Sunday Mirror reports today.

EIDOS INTERACTIVE LAUNCHES NEW BRAND

London-based Tomb Raider publishers Eidos Interactive has launched a new video-game brand called Fresh Games specifically designed to introduce Japanese titles to the worldwide market . Fresh Games will launch with several high-quality Japanese video-games including Mr Moskeeto, Mad Maestro!, and Legaia 2: Duel Saga.

The Advertising Standards Authority recently came down heavily on a mobile phone message advertisement sent out by leading computer games company Eidos Interactive. The publishers of the Lara Croft series had employed a rather inventive way of marketing and promoting its Commandos 2 product.

LARA CROFT ICONIC ROLE UNDER THREAT

Lara Croft's position as the world's sexiest animated character is under threat, according to a new poll. Dr Aki Ross from the Final Fantasy feature film is close behind the Tomb Raider heroine. Aki got 37% of votes in the 18 to 35 year old males category, compared with Lara's winning score of 43%. And Dr Ross won the category of voters aged between 18 and 24 years old.
