THORNTON TO TAKE PRIVATE RADIO TOUR

Actor Billy Bob Thornton, star of The Man Who Wasn't There, will soon be the man behind the microphone as he launches a two-week rockabilly tour this spring to promote his debut album, Private Radio. Thornton, who once earned a living as a drummer and opened for such acts as Humble Pie, Hank Williams Jr., Ted Nugent and Richie Havens, will return to his musical roots with a series of small concert-hall performances starting May 17 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.

MOVIES LINKED TO INCREASE IN SMOKING

Despite a voluntary ban on product placement and payoffs by the tobacco industry, cigarette use in movies is occurring more than ever. A recent statewide project by the American Lung Association of Colorado (ALAC) found a combined 366 smoking incidents in the five films nominated for best picture in 2001. Despite the frequent usage of cigarettes, Gosford Park, A Beautiful Mind and In The Bedroom all contain anti-tobacco messages as well; however, Lord Of The Rings and Moulin Rouge do not.

Eidos Interactives’ upcoming first-person shooter TimeSplitters 2 will also make its commercial debut on Microsoft Corps' XBOX games console to challenge PS2 and PC versions, according to the latest issue of XBOX Nation magazine. The action adventure videogame could also be ported to Nintendo's Game Cube according to a report from gamers.com
