YAHOO! TO LAUNCH VIDEO GAME SERVICE

In its latest move to generate revenue outside online advertising, Internet portal Yahoo! is launching a fee-based service Monday that lets users download and play videogames on demand. The service will offer well-known titles that can be rented for a few days or weeks at a time and run as if the CD-ROM were bought at a store and popped into the personal computer, said Daniel Hart, Yahoo's senior director of games and entertainment.

ACCIDENT DELAYS TOMB RAIDER SHOOTING

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has interrupted shooting scenes for the Tomb Raider sequel following an accident involving her 13-month-old adopted son Maddox. The baby was flown to Liverpool's Alder Hay Children's Hospital on Tuesday where he received treatment for three days. A hospital spokeswoman confirmed that the baby-boy was discharged on Friday although refused to disclose details of the injury. A statement later released said: Ms Jolie would like to extend her sincere thanks to all the staff at Alder Hey hospital for their care in looking after her son.

PARAMOUNT ANNOUNCES CRADLE OF LIFE

Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie is back as Lara Croft, one of the world's most celebrated action heroines to ever hit the big screen, in Lara Croft and The Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider 2. Principal photography on the Paramount Pictures presentation, in association with Mutual Film Company, began recently on the Greek island of Santorini. The film will open nationwide on July 25, 2003.

Eidos announces the new World War II real time strategy title Front Line Attack: War Over Europe. This will be the first game developed using Reality Pumps brand new game engine Earth-3. Front Line Attack: War Over Europe is developed by Zuxxez Entertainment AG, Reality Pump and In-Images and is due for release September 2002 on PC.
