POTTER PLANTS WARNER TOP OF MARKET

Box office is the measure of success weekend by weekend, but studio reputations are made with market share. For Warner Bros., it's been a banner year on both counts. Distrib finished tops in weekend B.O. for 11 frames, and Warners will take the domestic market share crown for 2001 - its first victory since 1993.

2001 ANOTHER STELLA YEAR FOR DVD'S

If last year was the year DVD broke through to the mainstream, this is the year it soared. In the U.S., the Consumer Electronics Association named the DVD player the fastest growing consumer electronic product of all time. This generation's home entertainment top toy has been around for only five years but it is expected to be in a third of U.S. households shortly, a feat that took the VCR twice as long to achieve.

Touchstone Entertainment's World War II epic Pearl Harbor snatches top spot with Universal's How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Fox's Planet Of The Apes a crackers length behind.
