SIMON WEST HINTS ON TOMB TRILOGY

During an interview with movie magazine Empire Online, forthcoming Tomb Raider directory Simon West has hinted a possible TR Movie Trilogy, claiming the cast have signed for three installments of Eidos Interactive's hit adventure series Tomb Raider. Everyone's signed on for three pictures. I have the choice to do them if I want. I don't have to, but I'm very protective of it, because I've created the world and the people in it.

During the recent premier of Gone In 60 Seconds, the Irish Times interviewed Angelina Jolie about life, love and of course, her new role as Eidos's heroine Lara Croft Training for the Simon West movie has been far from easy, according to Jolie, after having spent the last two months on an army course completing rigorous exercises.

TOMB RAIDER FILMING BEGINS MONDAY

It's official - Tomb Raider The Movie, directed by Simon West (Elizabeth & Con Air) and packing the power of Paramount Pictures, begins filming Monday at Pinewood Studios, London after months of preparation. Angelina Jolie, cast to play adventurer heroine Lara Croft, was in London Thursday for the British Premier of Gone In 60 Seconds where she was said to be excited about the upcoming role.

British director Simon West has been talking to Variety about why he decided to direct the upcoming 'Tomb Raider'. The 'Con Air' helmer says he initially rejected plans to direct the adaptation of the video game phenomenon, but eventually came to see the project as like coming across James Bond in 1961. Despite never having played the video game, West says he set about creating James Bond on acid, James Bond as it should be, slightly sadistic, supercool, with a surreal element.
