The popularity of Eidos Interactive's Tomb Raider and adventure gaming series Final Fantasy have been fed back to the major motion picture studios, according to a report by Blockbusters Bernie Wooder, who has been studying the growing trend of big screen adaptations from computer games.

Movie magazine Empire Online finally answers its critics over an alleged signed photograph sent to one of it's readers from Angelina Jolie depicting the Tomb Raider star in character in the first official picture of Lara Croft. Empire was then bullied and badgered by fans insisting that the signed photograph was in fact from Gone in Sixty Seconds or The Bone Collector, but now confirms that the outfit sported by Angelina Jolie in the original signed pic perfectly reflects that of a uniform worn by Angelina in the Tomb Raider movie trailer which was released in December 2000 from Paramount Studios.

Lycos, one of the webs largest and most frequented haunt for information, has placed teenage pop icon Britney Spears above Lara Croft in it's most popular searches of 2000, expiring last years challenge for the top spot from Dragonball Z. Lycos says however, that Angelina Jolie, Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider are keywords to watch for in 2001, accelerated by the movement from the Eidos camp of Tomb Raider the movie and also CORE's Next Generation.
