NEXT GENERATION FOR LARA CROFT

Tomb Raider: Next Generation, both for PS2 and PC, will foster an entirely new set of adventures that move far from Lara's original tomb raiding. Set inside a large, underlying story, the new game will be released in what will be called chapters or episodes, making three, four, even five TR titles available within a year. Like a television or comic book series, the game will be segmented into more detailed sequences with a possible season finale to tide people over until the next year.

RICHARD BLACKWOOD REJECTS MOVIE

TV star Richard Blackwood tells Popcorn that he's been turning down some high-profile movie offers to concentrate on his music career. I've had two movie offers, the Channel 4 star reveals, I had 'The Mummy 2' and I had 'Tomb Raider'. It was really weird, because I always wanted to do movies - and I still do - but it's my music [career] that's stopping me. Blackwood claims that the producers wanted him to play Lara Croft's assistant in 'Tomb Raider', and it's this part in particular that he regrets having to reject . I would've had a big part - [the character] is a mad scientist - and you could just make it really funny. I was thinking, 'That's the one', and I couldn't do it because of my music commitments.

Rimmer in the ever-popular Red Dwarf TV series, has landed a role in this movie. Barrie is playing Hillary, Lara Croft's personal butler, and by all accounts he's doing a great job in the role. Again, although no one else has reported this, the casting is confirmed; he's there on the Pinewood studio sets right now.
