The Wrangler Rubicon Jeep has replaced Land Rover as the vehicle of choice for Lara Croft in Par's Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle Of Life, and the Jeep Chrysler Group plan to roll out 1,000 limited edition off-road vehicles in July tentatively priced at $28,815 USD, the Canadian Press reports today. Director Jan de Bont says cars express character, fast. And in an action-packed crowd-pleaser, who has time for character development? "In the case of `Lara Croft,' I was looking for a car that represented her daring attitude," DeBont says.

The special edition Tomb Raider Wrangler Rubicon is loaded with multiple exterior off-roading features including: 16-inch Alcoa forged aluminum wheels, a light bar, riveted fender flares, badging, rock rails, a tubular grille guard, fog lamp and tail lamp guards, a diamond plate bumper guard, fog lamps with brush guards, riveted fender flares in graphite, black rock rails, aluminum diamond plate bumper guard in black, a black tubular grille guard, and tail lamp guards. The interior is sharply spoiled with a silver surround instrument panel bezel, dark slate fabric seats with red accent stitching, red seatbelts and unique registration certificates with each Rubicon model.

Jeff Bell, Vice President, Jeep Chrysler Group said: "The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the most capable Jeep ever built, so the heroic extreme environment in which Lara Croft uses her custom Wrangler Rubicon in Tomb Raider is accurate. This is more than just a product placement. We have created a 360-degree integrated marketing campaign around the movie and the debut of the Wrangler Rubicon Tomb Raider model. In the movie, this vehicle will be showcased in many rugged and extreme situations, highlighting key strengths of the brand in a new and exciting way. You'll see the Jeep crossing harsh desert and jungle terrain without any difficulty - true Jeep capability."

Facing her greatest challenges and dangers yet, Lara Croft aka Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie shows off her physical prowess like never before in the second of three movies based on the videogame of the same name. During this latest installment of her adventures, the intrepid tomb raider embarks on a perilous mission to rescue the world from the exploits of an evil Chinese crime syndicate led by oriental crime lord Chen Lo and overthrow new villain Reiss from deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world.
