NELL MCANDREW URGES RECYCLING COUP

Model and TV personality Nell McAndrew teamed up with the UK’s recycling organisations this week to urge football fans to recycle during Euro 2004. Recycling organisations WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme), SWAP (Save Waste and Prosper), Waste Watch, British Glass, Alcan Aluminium Can Recycling, Corus (steel cans recycling) and Recoup are all backing the model’s plea to the nation.

ANGELINA JOLIE WILL NOT IGNITE FLAME

Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie will not ignite the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games because of movie commitments, an official spokesperson for the actress has confirmed. The 29-year-old actress, star of recent videogame adaptation Lara Croft Tomb Raider and Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), was tapped to run the final leg bearing the Olympic torch to conclude an international relay to commemorate the official opening of the 2004 Olympic Games.

EIDOS ANNOUNCES POTENTIAL LOSS FOR 04

Eidos plc, the publisher of computer video-game heroine Lara Croft, saw 2.9 percent shaved from its London share price ealier today after issuing a profit warning and warning investors it may post a fiscal full-year loss as a result of soft product performance within the videogame industry. The company also delayed the release of ShellShock Nam ’67 till September in a move the company says will contribute to the success of the franchise.

EIDOS RELEASES DEADLY SHADOWS PATCH

Eidos plc has resolved a bug in the PC version of Ion Storm's Thief: Deadly Shadows adventure game which effects games saved during expert level play reverting to the normal default difficulty level when restarted or reloaded from previously explored levels. A patch is now available and can be downloaded from www.eidos.com

Citizens from all over the world will be gathering in Barcelona on 20 June to commemorate World Refugee Day. Among them will be UNHCR goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie, whose humanitarian work has taken her to refugee camps in Russia, Africa, the Middle East and more recently the refugee camps and crude shelters in eastern Chad where the actress witnessed first hand the deprivation of those struggling to flee from war-torn regions.
