TALENT AGENCY FORMS VIDEO GAMES UNIT

In another sign of the $9 billion video game industry's growing importance in Hollywood, top talent agency International Creative Management has formed a new division to adapt video games into movie and TV shows. The group will be headed by game veteran Keith Boesky who once served as president of Eidos Interactive Inc., the company behind the popular Lara Croft video games.

SIKHNET DRIVES PETITION AGAINST EIDSO

SikhNet, a global community of over 100 Sikh and non-Sikh organizations, has launched a campaign to demand Eidos Interactive recall its best-selling Hitman 2: Silent Assassin videogame from the market. The organization claims the sequel glorifies violence and incites racism and hatred against Sikhs and Dalits by linking them to terrorism. SikhNet is lobbying for signatures on a petition it plans to present to Eidos in the coming weeks.

HITMAN 2 SETS SIGHTS ON GAMECUBE

Eidos Interactive, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, announces that the No.1 selling Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is to be released on GameCube. Since its release on PlayStation 2, PC and Xbox in October this year, the game has enjoyed worldwide success having shipped in excess of one million units. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin on GameCube is currently being developed by IO Interactive and will be released in Spring 2003.

SONY PLANS SPRING LAUNCH FOR GAMES

Sony Corp. said on Thursday it would launch an online gaming network in Europe next spring for its top-selling PlayStation 2 video game console, triggering a new turf war in the ultra-competitive industry. Console manufacturers, including Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, are making a big push into online gaming just as home penetration of high-speed broadband access hits a critical mass.
