CIARAN HINDS TO PLAY DOCTOR REECE

Belfast-born and RADA-trained Ciaran Hinds will star opposite Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie in Par's Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle Of life. The 'Sum Of All Fears' actor will play evil villain Dr Jonathan Reece, bent on deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world. Hinds made his film debut as a medieval knight in the 1981 Arthurian legend 'Excalibur' and was catapulted to the front ranks in costume epics by his 1993 portrayal of Shakespeare's 'Richard III'.

ANGELINA JOLIE DONATES 50K TO HOSPITAL

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has pledged 50,000 UK pounds to Liverpool's Alder Hay Children's Hospital after being enchanted by the scenery and people who treated her adopted baby son for burns incurred while filming in North Wales on Par's Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle Of Life. The donation will help support a new £10m cancer unit and out-patients department.

EIDOS FRENZY AMID ACQUISITION RUMOURS

Eidos Interactive has witnessed heavy trading on its share price amid speculation of an acquisition spree by Activision, the second largest computer games publisher in the United States. The games giant filed for $500 million worth of new securities with US regulators last week, and nods from brokers Evolution Beeson Gregory has rallied trading sending Eidos' share price to 150 at close of trade today, the second highest in six months.
