CHILDREN OF THE SCREEN AGE SITE FEARS

Children are more frightened of the dark than their parents were because increasing exposure to artificial light means they rarely experience total blackness, according to a study commissioned by Powergen. Nearly two thirds of children aged under 10 insist on sleeping with a light on, compared with half of their parents’ generation at the same age, the study says.

UK videogame publishers Eidos Interactive has announced a 4.5 per cent cut in loss after declaring total operating losses before goodwill and one-off items for the six months to September 20 was £19.6 million, down £900,000 from £20.5 million the previous year, Derby Evening Telegraph reports today.

UK VIDEO GAMES REACH SALES PEAK IN 2001

Sales of video games, leisure software products and games consoles in Britain reached an all time high of 1.6 billion pounds in 2001, up 36 percent from a year ago, industry data showed on Thursday. The European Leisure Software Publishers Association, a UK industry body, said 51.2 million units of games hardware and software were sold in the year, up 21 percent, thanks to launches of two new consoles - the Game Cube from Nintendo and the Xbox from Microsoft.
