GAMECENTER PROFILES CHRONICLES

Bet you thought Lara was done for in The Last Revelation. The Temple of Horus came crashing down, and poor Lara disappeared from view, apparently buried alive. The intrepid and daring adventuress had finally met her match, perishing - somewhat fittingly - in a tomb of her own making. Right? Well, maybe. One of the rules of soap operas and comic books is, They're not dead until you've seen the body. And though we've certainly seen a lot of her over the years, the story may not be over yet. Tomb Raider: Chronicles will give Lara aficionados one last fling with the heroine while filling in some gaps--and answering some other questions players have had about her past.

TOMB RAIDER NEXT GEN EPISODES

Online magazine FGN has confirmed that Core Design will introduce a new trend to it's successfull Tomb Raider series, claiming that after the initial game is purchased, consumers will then be able to buy additional episodic add-on titles increasing the length of the game indefinitely, and introducing new adventures, locations and characters, as well as the ability to top up new features online. No financial details have yet been released as to how much the additional segments will cost, but FGN reports that future sequels will be developed, building the franchise into a huge epic story.

NELL MCANDREW TO PRESENT CYBERCAFE

Former Lara Croft model Nell McAndrew has joined Channel Four's Big Breakfast presenter Richard Orford to host Meridian TV's Cyber Cafe, filmed on location at The Fez bar in Southampton. Each week, the show spotlights the wierd and wonderful world of the Internet, with regular features including a live web-cam broadcast, special guest stars and a weekly challenge for Nell suggested by viewers.. Procuded and directed by Ronnie Cowing, Cyber Cafe is scheduled to run for 13 episodes, screening Thursday evenings on British Television.

TOMB RAIDER CHRONICLES FOR THE MAC

This past weekend Aspyr indicated that the latest major game in that series, Lara Croft's posthumous Tomb Raider: Chronicles retrospective, will also be coming to the Macintosh. Aspyr's relationship with Eidos has led to other lucrative opportunities, as well - last summer, Aspyr published the Mac version of Deus Ex, the 3D role-playing game developed by Eidos partner Ion Storm. Deus Ex turned into one of the crown jewels of this past summer's Mac game offerings.

EIDOS PLC NOT GAME FOR TAKEOVER

Eidos Plc., the U.K. video game maker that created animated heroine Lara Croft, slammed the door on a potential takeover Monday after it concluded that the terms and price didn't offer a good value to its shareholders. Eidos shares fell 11% on the London stock exchange to 261 pence Monday and dropped 14% on the U.S. Nasdaq market to 3.88. Eidos indicated last month that progress had slowed on its negotiations to sell the company.
